Volunteering is a popular form of cooperation with the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial, especially among students. Volunteers in the various Museum departments gain experience in preparing and carrying out different kinds of educational, preservation, or publishing projects.

There are two types of volunteer work at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim:
·    On-site—in Oświęcim, while staying at the Museum
·    Distance—at home, working on various Museum projects
